Calrec has introduced Type RT, a family of compact broadcast audio consoles with 6, 12 or 18 motorised faders. Each model is a fanless tabletop unit combining DSP, control processing, I/O, monitoring and USB audio rather than relying on a separate engine.
Under each fader, dedicated displays provide metering and status. The configurable panel can expose up to 138 assignable buttons, 24 rotary encoders, three ancillary displays and a four-inch TFT. Calrec's Medium Capacity Card supplies native SMPTE ST 2110 audio-over-IP; Dante is optional and MADI is licensed in software.
Calrec Assist browser control is standard, while True Control 2.0 and ImPulseV virtual DSP are optional for remote production. All three surface sizes share the same capability and licensing choices, so a facility can select physical scale without changing the processing model.
The specification is broad, but channel counts, redundancy behaviour, prices and delivery timing were not fully published. The absence of fans is useful in studios and podcast rooms, although thermal performance under maximum DSP and I/O load still needs independent testing.
