Broadpeak has launched Click2Cart, a connected-TV advertising product designed to let viewers add promoted items to an existing retailer basket from the television experience. The system is intended to keep the interaction close to the programme and avoid forcing viewers to rebuild a purchase journey on another device.
The product sits at the intersection of ad insertion, interactive application logic and retailer account integration. Broadpeak is presenting it as a way for broadcasters and streaming services to add measurable commerce actions to premium video advertising.
Why it matters
Shoppable television has often depended on QR codes that transfer the viewer to a phone. A direct basket action could reduce friction, but it introduces harder integration questions: identity, consent, household profiles, regional availability and reliable attribution all have to work across television platforms and retailer systems.
For broadcast engineering teams, the relevant issue is not only the visual overlay. Interactive data must remain aligned with the advertisement, survive device variation and fail safely when a retailer endpoint is unavailable. Editorial and commercial teams also need clear boundaries so interactive elements do not obscure programme content or accessibility features.
What remains open
Broadpeak has not disclosed broad retailer coverage, conversion results or platform-by-platform deployment details in the announcement. The commercial impact will depend on integrations, viewer consent and whether the experience is consistent across fragmented CTV environments.
