Broadpeak has deployed seven new HyperPoPs across Brazil to expand the Latin American footprint of its Adaptive Streaming CDN. The sites support Broadpeak's CDN-as-a-service offer on broadpeak.io and are positioned specifically for video rather than as general-purpose web caches.
Each HyperPoP is rated at more than 1 Tbps, which Broadpeak says is substantially larger than a conventional public-CDN cache. Deployment with local internet service providers brings capacity closer to viewers and can reduce the distance and upstream dependency involved in serving a large regional live audience.
The architecture targets premium streaming and sudden peaks around sports and other major events. An API-based service can let content providers use the footprint without building and operating their own CDN, while local placement provides another option for multi-CDN strategies and regional traffic control.
The expansion and rated per-site capacity are reported, but aggregate usable throughput, peering coverage, cache-hit performance and the exact cities or network partners were not disclosed. No launch customer or measured viewer-quality improvement was named, so production impact will depend on routing and actual demand patterns.
