Brightcove has introduced Gen 2, a major consolidation of platform work completed over the previous 18 months. The release spans content management, monetisation, playback, live streaming, localisation and accessibility, with a new AI Agentic Hub presented as the most significant workflow addition.
The hub uses a chat-style interface through which a user can specify an outcome. Agents can then analyze platform data and act across content and metadata, workflow configuration and audience experiences. Brightcove says the capability is already available to selected production customers and will roll out more broadly after IBC2026.
Gen 2 also incorporates the Prism interface, automated metadata, recommendations, Content Multiplier for derivative assets, contextual advertising and ad-break placement. Next-Gen Live adds lower latency alongside 4K, server-side ad insertion and DRM, while the updated player is designed around WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility.
Brightcove says the wider platform is available to existing customers without migration, but some functions remain beta or staged rollouts. The announcement does not quantify live latency, agent error rates, review controls, supported multi-step actions or pricing by feature, so operators should validate automation boundaries before using agents on revenue or publishing workflows.
