Audio-Technica has introduced the BP350ST for broadcast, electronic news gathering and field recording. The microphone combines a line-cardioid mid element with a figure-of-eight side element in a coincident mid-side arrangement.
Operators can select internally matrixed left-right output in wide or narrow modes, or record discrete mid and side channels for width control in post. Mid-side capture also folds down to mono without the timing differences that can affect spaced stereo microphones.
The BP350ST-UL uses a 16cm interference tube and is designed for camera or support-rig mounting. The BP350ST-UB fits a compact body supplied with a magnetic boundary housing and a five-inch gooseneck, and it can use other ATM350a mounting accessories.
Both versions connect through TA5F to a phantom-powered module and include a dual-XLR cable. The announcement provides the mechanical concept and operating modes, but pricing, frequency-response measurements and availability by market were not included.
