Vida has added Scene Search to its Content OS media asset management platform. The feature is designed to index the content of stored video so users can search for scenes even when original logging and metadata are incomplete.
The company positions the tool for large libraries where incoming material outpaces manual cataloguing. Scene Search is available now as part of Content OS and is intended to improve discovery and reuse of archive footage without relying solely on the tags attached at ingest.
Technical significance
Poor metadata is a long-lived operational cost because valuable footage becomes effectively invisible. Content-based indexing can recover some of that value, but archive search needs traceable results, predictable indexing cost and permissions that prevent semantic search from exposing restricted material.
What to watch
The product report does not identify the underlying models, supported languages, object classes, accuracy or cloud-processing cost. Archive owners should test false positives, timecode precision, incremental indexing, rights metadata, security boundaries and whether search results remain portable if they change MAM platforms.
