Trint has shared new detail about the IBC Accelerator Smart Stories project, a multi-company effort to create a common language for story context in agentic news production. Participating media organisations include BBC, ITN, NBCUniversal, Reuters and AP, with technology partners including Trint, LiveU, Fonn Group and Octopus Newsroom.
The project treats a story as more than a collection of media files. The goal is to preserve editorial context, relationships, verification state and workflow intent as material moves between tools, so AI agents and newsroom applications do not have to reconstruct meaning independently at every step.
Why it matters
MOS standardised important exchanges between newsroom computer systems and production devices. Agentic workflows need an additional semantic layer if tools are to collaborate without losing provenance, editorial decisions or the reason a piece of media belongs to a story.
The team will demonstrate its work at IBC2026, but the public material does not yet define a finished schema, governance model or adoption path. Interoperability, security and responsibility for incorrect machine interpretation will require scrutiny after the proof of concept is shown.
