Sky News Australia has deployed a cloud-first newsroom built on Grass Valley AMPP for more than 250 staff. The broadcaster says the environment supports approximately 1,500 hours of weekly content across continuous news operations.
Framelight X provides media and workflow functions while Playout X supports output, with browser access intended to let teams work from multiple locations. The project replaces more fixed workstation and facility dependencies with centrally managed software services.
Why it matters
News is one of the hardest tests for cloud production because users, deadlines and asset volumes are continuous. A functioning deployment at this scale is more informative than a short event trial, particularly for organisations evaluating remote access and elastic staffing.
What still needs checking
The announcement does not disclose network architecture, service-level targets, operating cost, security design or measured productivity before and after the migration.
