Octopus Newsroom has introduced Octopus 13 as a story-centric newsroom platform. The release presents related scripts, media, assignments and communication around the story, aiming to reduce the context switching that occurs when teams work across separate editorial tools.
The system offers more than 100 integrations and uses Model Context Protocol to make approved newsroom context available to agentic-AI tools. Octopus stresses that journalists retain editorial control, an important boundary when agents can inspect or act on production information.
Browser access is joined by a redesigned mobile web client with teleprompter capability. Communication links include Microsoft Teams, WhatsApp and Slack, while a no-code workflow designer lets newsrooms adapt processes without maintaining a custom application for every change.
The announcement does not define model providers, permission granularity or how agent actions appear in the editorial audit trail. Newsrooms should validate source attribution, prompt-injection defences, rundown locking and failure behaviour before enabling write access for automated agents.
