LiveU has published figures from a large LiveU IQ deployment at the 2026 Winter Games. The company says 980 contribution units were used by broadcasters from 37 countries across approximately 12,000 live sessions.
The aggregate reached 15,000 live hours and 134TB of transmitted content. LiveU says IQ was used on 60 percent of eligible sessions and that those sessions achieved average bitrates 36 percent higher than comparable unmanaged paths.
Why it matters
Automated network selection is potentially valuable at congested events where operators cannot manually evaluate every modem and carrier. A large event provides a meaningful stress test for path decisions across changing radio and venue conditions.
What still needs checking
The performance comparison is reported by LiveU and the methodology is not independently audited in the release. Higher bitrate alone does not describe latency, drop rate, picture quality or cost.
