Grass Valley has introduced FLX Reporter, a mobile contribution application that connects field capture directly to the Framelight X browser-based editor. The company will demonstrate the workflow at IBC2026 for breaking news, sport and fast-turnaround event production.
Traditional field workflows often require a recording to finish, transfer to complete and an ingest process to run before producers can see useful material. FLX Reporter is intended to let contributors, producers and editors work from the moment capture begins, allowing review and story construction to overlap with acquisition.
The approach could shorten the path to air and digital publishing while keeping dispersed teams inside one collaborative environment. It also reflects a broader shift from moving complete media files between isolated systems to exposing growing content and metadata as an active production resource.
Grass Valley has confirmed the product and Framelight X connection, but the announcement does not specify supported phones, codecs, bonding options, background-upload behaviour or how the workflow recovers from poor connectivity. Security, identity and newsroom-system integrations also remain to be documented.
