DaVinci Resolve 21.1 expands editing, finishing and automation across the free and Studio editions. Multicamera shortcuts can now switch or cut as many as 25 angles, while the trim editor and compare-timeline workflow have been revised for faster programme editing.

Fusion gains more than 25 Krokodove-based shape and 3D tools plus frame, ease and scale controls for OGraf clips. The Color page adds individual MultiMaster trims for Dolby Vision, HDR10+ and HDR Vivid. QuickTime and MXF output can carry multiple embedded captions, and growing-file handling is improved across transport stream, QuickTime and MXF.

Resolve Studio adds a native MCP server for interaction with AI assistants and 20 scripting APIs covering multicam creation, audio normalisation, render settings and timeline properties. Built-in Python console support replaces Python 2, while advanced scripting is now limited to Studio.

The release notes document functions rather than operational performance. Facilities should test project compatibility, database upgrades, caption conformance and third-party integrations before changing active systems. The security and approval model around MCP-connected assistants also needs local governance.
