Dalet and Agence France-Presse have announced an integration that brings AFP's verified shot-level video metadata into Dalet newsroom and media workflows. The companies say the metadata is available in near real time and can be used to find specific visual moments without manually watching complete incoming feeds.
Shot-level descriptions are more granular than a single headline or clip summary. They can identify people, places and actions inside a longer source package, while retaining AFP's source context. Dalet says the capability is available immediately to customers using the relevant services.
Why it matters
Newsrooms receive more video than journalists can review manually. Better metadata can accelerate search and help producers match pictures to a script under deadline. Provenance is equally important: useful automation should preserve who supplied the material, when it was created and what has actually been verified.
The integration does not remove the need for editorial checks. A shot description can be incomplete, ambiguous or detached from later corrections. News organisations should ensure that restrictions, updates and rights metadata travel with the asset and remain visible at the point of use.
What remains open
The announcement does not detail language coverage, correction propagation or commercial packaging. Customers should verify how quickly changed AFP metadata reaches already ingested assets and how the integration behaves across archive and live-feed workflows.
