Avid has launched Content Core as a cloud data layer for media organisations with on-premises and hybrid content estates. It indexes and connects material without requiring every asset and workflow to move into one storage location at once.
Browser applications provide search, playback, editing, task management and review. Semantic search is intended to find content from meaning and context rather than only exact metadata fields.
Why it matters
Many broadcasters have decades of media distributed across MAMs, storage tiers and business units. A shared data layer can make those collections usable in new workflows while reducing the risk of a forced all-at-once migration.
What still needs checking
Search quality depends on indexing, metadata and access policy. Organisations should verify data movement, residency, identity integration, API limits and commercial cost at archive scale.
