The Associated Press is expanding its LiveU deployment with LU900Q production units, LiveU Ingest, transceivers and LiveU IQ connectivity. The project takes the agency's global field fleet beyond 100 encoders.
LU900Q uses eSIM access and AI-assisted connection management across available mobile networks. AP plans to use the units for live feeds, editorial contribution and multicamera work through AP 360.
LiveU Ingest is being connected to AP's cloud-based media-asset system and can support up to ten simultaneous live channels. AP is also moving toward SMPTE ST 2110, deploying five LiveU servers alongside a dedicated SDI server while LiveU IQ switches between available paths.
The scale and architecture are confirmed, but the announcement does not publish field reliability, latency, picture-quality targets or the decision logic behind network switching. The transition also retains an SDI component, so it should be read as a phased IP migration rather than a completed all-IP facility.
