Touring Video has extended the Riedel MediorNet and hi architecture first installed in its TV-2 truck in 2019. The company now operates more than 40 MicroN nodes and MetroN core routers across trucks and portable production systems.
Custom remote I/O frames can be placed at stage left, backstage or at a video village. Each frame provides 24 paths of 3G-SDI plus black reference, MADI and an Ethernet tunnel, returning to the truck over multiplexed lightweight fibre rather than many point-to-point cables.
MediorNet also performs embedding, de-embedding, frame synchronisation, test patterns, signal identification and multiviewing. The hi control layer handles routing panels and operational logic centrally. Consolidating these functions reduces rack space and the amount of separate conversion hardware carried between shows.
The case study gives installed scale and workflow detail, but not measured setup time, failure recovery or cost. The architecture remains heavily concentrated in one vendor ecosystem, so migration and third-party control boundaries should be assessed alongside the operational gains.
