QuickLink has added WhatsApp and Cisco Webex support to its StudioEdge remote guest platform. The system already accepts Zoom, Microsoft Teams and QuickLink StudioCall, giving production teams a single contribution edge for callers arriving through different communication services.
StudioEdge is designed to turn those calls into broadcast-quality discrete audio and video sources. Supporting the platform already used by a contributor can reduce joining friction, especially for fast news interviews, but it also places more responsibility on the production edge to normalise inconsistent devices, networks and application behaviour.
The update also expands Microsoft Teams integration. A single Teams meeting can now contribute multiple callers, with guest-join notifications, active-speaker information, screen sharing and compatibility with Microsoft Teams Rooms environments.
QuickLink will demonstrate the changes at IBC2026. The announcement does not disclose maximum simultaneous callers, exact output formats, WhatsApp account requirements or measured latency and quality across each service. Availability and licensing for existing StudioEdge users also remain unclear.
