LiveU has delivered a remote VAR contribution design for the OFC Pro League across six Pacific nations. Instead of placing a full review operation at every venue, camera feeds are sent to a central Hawk-Eye operation in Auckland.
The portable system transports 12 incoming video feeds and four return paths. LiveU reports a round-trip delay of about one second across the geographically dispersed competition, where connectivity options and venue infrastructure vary significantly.
Why it matters
Centralising review can improve consistency and reduce travel, equipment and specialist staffing. The Pacific deployment is a demanding example because distances and network availability make a conventional private contribution network difficult to justify.
What still needs checking
One-second round-trip performance is vendor-reported and may not represent every venue or failure condition. Arbitration policy, backup paths and service continuity remain as important as normal-path latency.
