Euro-TV has upgraded its largest outside-broadcast vehicle, MPU-3, with Sony's MLS-X1 live production switcher and ICP-X7000-series control panels. The Austrian company uses the truck for winter sports, large outdoor events and other productions where equipment must operate reliably in demanding alpine conditions.
The MLS-X1 is a scalable, reconfigurable platform rather than a fixed monolithic switcher. In Euro-TV's deployment it complements Sony HDC-3500 and HDC-4300 camera systems already used by the company. Network-based Virtual Shot Box control allows operators to build custom web interfaces, while conditional actions can automate repeatable control sequences.
An internal HDR I/O converter is particularly relevant in a mixed-delivery environment. Directors can monitor and switch an HDR production while the system creates an SDR output for legacy channels or parallel distribution. Sony also says the platform can connect external devices through southbound control protocols.
The installation confirms a real customer deployment rather than a show-floor concept. Sony has not published the complete MPU-3 signal plan, redundancy design or measured operational gains, so the effect on setup time and crew workload will need to be judged across live productions.
