EIZO has explained how its 31.5-inch 4K CG3200X reference monitor handles the automatic brightness limiting required to protect an OLED panel. The monitor reaches 1,000-nit peak output and a stated 300 nits across a full white frame.
Uniform Dimming mode lowers the complete image to preserve its overall balance. Highlight Dimming instead constrains the brightest regions while retaining darker and middle tones. A Safe View mode shrinks the image to 25 or 10 per cent of the screen so a grader can inspect the full HDR range without triggering the limiter.
The monitor supports HLG, PQ and SDR, covers 99 per cent of DCI-P3 and includes a calibration sensor. The technical value is visibility into when OLED protection changes the judgement image, rather than treating an automatic luminance shift as an invisible display behaviour.
Mass production is planned within 2026 and pricing is expected below the CG3100X's roughly 5,000-euro street level. Final price, production date, panel uniformity, long-term burn-in behaviour and mode accuracy still require confirmation and independent measurement.
