Mediacom has purchased and independently operated a Riedel Easy5G system for the La Vuelta departure ceremony at Place du Palais Princier in Monaco. The temporary private network provided uplinks for two HD cameras.
The crew established dedicated frequencies around the venue before the live event and connected the cameras without laying a temporary cable network. The design is optimised for uplink capacity, distinguishing it from consumer mobile networks whose capacity is usually weighted toward downloads.
For a crowded single-take event, private spectrum removes dependence on public 5G congestion and unmanaged Wi-Fi. The reported deployment also shows that a production company, rather than a telecom operator, can set up and run the cell as part of its broadcast kit.
The case study reports continuous operation without a quality drop, but gives no spectrum band, bitrate, codec, latency, cell radius or failover data. Those details and local licensing requirements will determine how easily the workflow transfers to other events.
