Teradek has launched Bolt 7, a wireless video and data family that adds a dedicated 900MHz control path alongside its zero-delay 4K transport. The 750, 1500 and MAX transmitters and receivers are intended to move video and camera data through one paired system without depending on a separate Wi-Fi network.
The data channel can carry supported camera control, colour-management and telemetry workflows to SmallHD displays, CTRL.5 controllers, computers, tablets or remote-control panels. In live production, the same link can feed video to a switcher while sending shading and telemetry to Sony or Cyanview control equipment.
Bolt 7 supports up to 4K60 10-bit 4:2:2 HDR over 12G-SDI and remains compatible with the video side of Bolt 4K and Bolt 6 systems. A USB-C connection adds single-cable iPhone workflows and DisplayPort Alternate Mode for compatible equipment, while the MAX receiver can record to SD and supply a separate low-latency feed through an attached router.
The announcement does not provide measured RF range, coexistence results or failure behaviour in congested venues. The new 900MHz data function only operates between Bolt 7 units, and some camera-control functions require optional licensing, so exact interoperability and total system cost need confirmation.
