Cingularity, IMG's broadcast fibre service provider, has selected the Appear X5 for live contribution from DP World Tour golf tournaments. HEVC feeds travel from venues to IMG's Stockley Park production centre for onward distribution.
The portable platform brings functions from Appear's larger X systems into a form factor intended for flypacks, OB vehicles, regional backhaul and other sites constrained by rack space or power. It integrates with SDI and IP infrastructure and supports multiple encode and decode codecs.
Resilience options include SMPTE ST 2022-7, SRT and IP forward-error correction. Cingularity says the deployment helps standardise workflows while maintaining picture quality and low latency at lower bitrates over limited connectivity.
The case confirms a real deployment, but no bitrate, latency, channel-count or availability measurements were published. Its international use should therefore be treated as operational evidence of adoption, not proof that every resilience mode or connectivity scenario meets a particular service level.
