Net Insight has launched Zyntai TimeNode Access, a compact PTP grandmaster for distributed edge sites connected through leased, third-party or otherwise non-PTP-aware networks. The design combines local GNSS reception with secure timing delivered across existing packet transport.
Four time-transfer sessions support regional routing, multiple links and TLS/AES protection. At the site, the device can serve as many as 512 PTP clients at full message rate and supports SMPTE ST 2059-2, AES67 and telecom and power timing profiles simultaneously.
TN2020 targets broad deployment, while TN2020M adds dual-frequency L1/L5 reception, OSNMA authentication and jamming and spoofing detection. Both provide 10-gigabit and gigabit Ethernet, SyncE, PPS, 10 MHz and NTP, with central supervision through Zyntai Director.
The architecture could strengthen synchronisation at remote studios or contribution edges without a transport rebuild. Net Insight has not published holdover accuracy, recovery times, pricing, availability or independent tests of encrypted time transfer under congestion, so operational assurance still requires site-specific validation.
