Huawei has launched the XMAGE Z10, a clip-on camera module built around a 1-inch 50-megapixel sensor and a 24–240mm-equivalent f/2.0–4.5 zoom. The 19-element, six-group lens provides continuous 10x optical coverage and a 77mm filter thread.
The module has an RYYB colour filter array, laser autofocus, an anti-flicker sensor and Huawei’s third-generation Red Maple colour sensor. It has no battery or storage: a hard-contact HyperClick mount supplies power and transfers data to the phone, avoiding the Wi-Fi live-view delay associated with earlier lens-style cameras.
Video modes include 4K, 1080p and 720p at 30 or 60 frames per second, plus 1080p high-frame-rate recording. The concept could give mobile field production a larger sensor and true zoom while retaining phone processing and transmission.
Compatibility is limited to two Mate 90 variants in China. Huawei does not disclose codec, bitrate, bit depth, log support, output latency, live-stream interfaces or international availability.
