XGN Global introduced XGN Charlie as a dedicated receiver for direct-to-device 5G Broadcast. The one-to-many transmission model uses broadcast spectrum rather than a separate cellular or internet stream for every receiving device.
The unit supports 3GPP Band 112 from 470 to 608MHz and Band 113 from 606 to 698MHz. Those UHF allocations are intended to let broadcasters and network operators reuse high-power transmission infrastructure for compatible 5G Broadcast services.
XGN positions the receiver for digital signage, emergency alerts, public-safety information and live media. A dedicated endpoint can be useful where the display is not a compatible handset or where an operator needs a managed external receiver.
The product announcement does not provide supported video and audio codecs, output interfaces, conditional-access options, receiver sensitivity, regional certification, price or shipping date. Network availability also depends on local spectrum policy and compatible transmission, so the device alone does not create a service. Field trials will need to separate receiver performance from coverage and antenna design.
