Viaplay has migrated multiple free-to-air channels to Encompass Digital Media’s Altitude Scheduling platform. The service combines cloud-native scheduling automation from Op2mise.ai with managed operations from Encompass’s central media operations centre in Riga.
Viaplay says the move is intended to simplify daily planning, reduce manual effort and make it easier to adjust services as portfolio requirements change. The deployment is described as scheduling-as-a-service rather than a conventional software licence installed and operated entirely by the broadcaster.
For channel operations, that distinction is important. Programme grids, rights constraints, advertising breaks and last-minute changes can be handled through a shared service layer while Viaplay’s internal teams concentrate on content and audience work. It also makes the Riga operation part of the broadcaster’s critical path for free-to-air continuity.
The announcement confirms that migration has completed, but it does not identify the number of channels, integrations with traffic and playout, service-level objectives, disaster-recovery arrangement or the precise decisions delegated to AI. Those omissions make it impossible to assess resilience or the actual reduction in manual scheduling from the public information alone.
