Techex plans to demonstrate a hybrid affiliate-distribution workflow built around its tx darwin platform at NAB Show New York. The design retains Ku-band satellite for broad primary distribution while adding managed IP paths that can take over or supplement the service.

The IP layer supports SRT, RIST and SMPTE ST 2022-7 protection. Techex also describes compressed-domain switching for programme replacement and blackouts, together with SCTE-35 handling and watermarking. Those functions place distribution resilience and regional control in the same operational workflow.

For networks moving away from dedicated circuits, the staged model is significant. It allows satellite, on-premises processing and cloud-connected IP delivery to coexist while affiliates are migrated according to connectivity and risk rather than on one cutover date.

The demonstration is a product presentation, not a published field trial. The source does not state failover time, supported transport-stream combinations, operating cost or results across impaired public networks. Broadcasters should therefore validate recovery behaviour and affiliate monitoring before treating the approach as equivalent to an established primary path.
