Tata Communications Media has demonstrated a virtualised production control room designed for live-sports workflows with as many as 40 cameras. The control functions run as software services rather than remaining tied to one dedicated production truck or machine room.

Applications use the company’s Media eXchange Layer across venue, production and data-centre edges. This allows processing and control to be placed at different points according to latency, capacity and operational requirements while presenting one workflow to production staff.

A Stream Gateway observability layer applies AI-assisted analysis to transport, with the aim of selecting routes and recovering from faults automatically. That could reduce manual network intervention during a live event, but only if the automation exposes its decisions and preserves a predictable operator override.

The report does not provide codec, latency, redundancy, security or control-surface details for the 40-camera setup. It also lacks recovery-time measurements and examples of failures resolved autonomously, so the self-healing description remains a product claim rather than a verified service result.
