SmallHD has added native Sony FX3 control to its PageOS monitor ecosystem. Supported Cine and Ultra displays connect to the camera over USB and expose controls through the monitor’s touch interface.
Operators can start and stop recording and adjust frame rate, shutter, ISO, colour temperature and white balance. Status information including timecode, media, resolution, recording format and battery is displayed on the monitor. Touch focus carries a frequently used camera interaction onto the larger external screen.
For gimbals, car rigs, compact studios and specialty mounts, consolidating monitoring and settings on one display can reduce extra control hardware and make the camera less physically intrusive. The benefit depends on cable security and on whether the monitor is already part of the rig.
The camera-control licence is tied to one monitor, and some packages require a separate camera-side USB cable. Published material does not provide control latency, supported FX3 firmware versions, failure behaviour during recording or a complete matrix for every PageOS monitor.
