Sky Sports will add live subtitles to every Premier League match shown on its main channels and provide Live Descriptive Audio Commentary on selected fixtures. The rollout begins on 10 October and spans Sky+, Sky Q, Sky Glass, Sky Stream, NOW and Virgin Media.

The descriptive feed is designed for blind and partially sighted viewers. Unlike occasional conventional audio description, it continuously explains play, key moments, atmosphere and surrounding action in a style closer to radio commentary. RNIB and representative users contributed feedback during development.

For deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences, live subtitles will cover commentary, analysis and dialogue across about 210 front-channel matches each season. Both services are exposed through existing accessibility menus, while an AD logo and audible cue identify descriptive-audio availability.

Sky has confirmed the service scope but not the production staffing model, caption latency targets, accuracy thresholds, audio-mix method or redundancy. Descriptive commentary is also limited to selected games, so the total number and selection policy remain open.
