Ross Video has introduced RiO Replay as a software-defined, multi-channel replay system for live production. The platform supports both conventional SDI connectivity and SMPTE ST 2110 media-over-IP environments.
That dual transport matters because replay is frequently shared across trucks, control rooms and flypacks that are migrating at different speeds. A software-defined core can preserve a common operating concept while I/O is selected for the facility. Capacity can also be scaled without replacing a monolithic replay chassis.
Replay still places demanding requirements on record-channel density, storage bandwidth, operator response and deterministic playout. ST 2110 adds PTP timing and network design to that list, while hybrid environments require accurate coordination between baseband and IP sources.
The product overview confirms multi-channel operation and SDI/ST 2110 support. It does not publish channel counts per server, codecs, storage architecture, slow-motion limits, controller compatibility, PTP resilience, licensing model or pricing. Production teams therefore need a fuller configuration guide before comparing RiO Replay with established systems.
