PBS and France 24 have agreed to let PBS member stations offer France 24 English as live subchannels on their digital platforms. The package comprises nine live, linear and commercial-free English-language streaming channels from the French public-service broadcaster.
The arrangement gives individual stations another source of daily international reporting while France 24 gains a route to more US viewers. It is framed as an option for member stations rather than a single national schedule imposed across the PBS system.
Technically, the deal reflects a wider move from one primary stream toward configurable channel bundles inside station apps and web platforms. That creates operational questions around entitlement, metadata, programme guides, stream monitoring and how stations surface an external live service beside local output.
The announcement confirms the carriage opportunity but does not name participating stations, launch dates, stream formats, CDN responsibilities, accessibility features or geographic controls. The number of channels described also needs to be distinguished from the single France 24 English brand presented to viewers.
