Orange Polska has signed a multi-year extension with Viaccess-Orca for technology supporting its television services. The relationship dates to 2013 and now covers VO Secure Video Player, Multi-DRM, VO DRM and the company’s Service Delivery Platform.
The renewal runs alongside a planned architecture refresh intended to provide more flexibility and create room for cloud and AI-driven capabilities. Keeping playback and content protection with one vendor gives the operator continuity while other platform components change.
For a multiscreen TV service, the combination spans client playback, key and licence handling, operator-controlled DRM and service orchestration. The technical risk is therefore not limited to encryption: client upgrades, entitlement, telemetry and new cloud services must remain aligned throughout migration.
The announcement is a supplier statement and does not disclose subscriber scale, supported devices, cloud design, DRM transaction volume, migration sequence or service-level objectives. It also does not identify which future AI functions are approved. The contract confirms continued deployment and architectural intent, but not measured security or quality-of-experience improvement.
