Konstrukt has released Omakase Player 1.0 as an open-source JavaScript framework for professional media review. The browser-native player is distributed under the Apache 2.0 licence and is designed around frame-accurate playback, temporal metadata and quality-control work rather than consumer viewing alone.
The architecture supports live and video-on-demand sources with a sliding timeline, thumbnail navigation and H.264 or H.265 playback through HLS, progressive MP4 and TAMS. FairPlay, Widevine and PlayReady are listed, alongside sidecar AAC, AC-3, MP3, WAV, IMSC, SRT, SCC, VTT and JSON tracks.
Its multi-lane timeline can display machine analysis, user annotations, markers and other time-based data for review, semantic search, advertising, promo insertion and approval. QC controls include frame stepping, jog and shuttle, variable speed, audio routing and soloing, VU meters, safe areas and dual-screen operation.
SDVI already uses Omakase in its Rally media-supply-chain platform. The release establishes a credible production reference, but browser and operating-system compatibility, high-resolution performance, DRM certification responsibilities, accessibility and support terms still require evaluation by each adopter.
