AMWA and the EBU have completed a large multi-vendor demonstration of NMOS BCP-008 Minimum Status Reporting. Arkona, DirectOut, EVS, Leader, Nevion, Pebble, Providius, Riedel, Simplexity, Sony and SRF participated, with final validation carried out at EVS in Belgium.

BCP-008 is intended to reduce the wall of warnings that can make conventional monitoring noisy rather than useful. End devices report a compact set of operational conditions, including connectivity, synchronisation and stream validation, through standardised models that a common controller can understand.

Vendors can extend those minimum models with more detailed states without breaking the interoperable layer. That gives a basic dashboard a consistent hierarchical view while allowing specialist monitoring systems to consume richer manufacturer-specific information discovered through the same framework.

The demonstration establishes implementation momentum, not universal deployment. Existing facilities will still need SNMP and vendor APIs for devices without BCP-008 support, and broadcasters must test how alarms, dependencies and escalation rules map onto their own operating model.
