Nikon has introduced the Z5IIC, a viewfinder-free full-frame hybrid camera priced at $1,399 body-only. It uses the same 24.5-megapixel FX sensor and EXPEED 7 processor as the Z5II while adopting a flat-top design aimed at more casual and compact shooting.
Video features include 4K60 N-RAW, Full HD recording at 120 frames per second, 10-bit H.265 and N-Log with free RED LUTs. Five-axis in-body stabilisation is rated at up to 7.5 stops, and the camera retains 14fps stills shooting. Video sensitivity extends to ISO 51,200.
The lower price brings operational compromises. There is no electronic viewfinder, the vari-angle screen has 1.04 million dots, the dedicated autofocus joystick is gone and media recording is limited to one UHS-II SD card rather than two. Those choices reduce redundancy and monitored operation for event or broadcast-style assignments.
The magnesium-alloy body is sealed against dust and moisture and weighs 620 grams. Nikon plans October availability in black or silver. Recording-time limits, thermal behaviour at 4K60 N-RAW and sustained data rates were not reported, so production buyers should wait for measured tests before treating it as a dependable long-form camera.
