Sofia Digital and Castlabs have integrated DRMtoday into Sofia Digital’s HbbTV application stack, with the combination already running in the latest LOVEStv service. Spain’s RTVE, Atresmedia and Mediaset España operate LOVEStv with Cellnex as technical provider.
The unified client and updated video player support Media Source Extensions and Encrypted Media Extensions alongside legacy HbbTV interfaces. DRMtoday provides Google Widevine and Microsoft PlayReady licensing. The platform is designed for millions of monthly licence requests across more than 20 million unique enabled devices.
Hybrid television services must bridge receivers from several generations while adding catch-up, start-over, recommendations and advertising. Making multi-DRM a pre-integrated component reduces repeated integration work and provides a path toward protected Ultra HD without abandoning older receivers.
The companies do not publish licence latency, concurrency limits, offline behaviour, security certification, receiver failure rates, key-rotation policy or how device fragmentation is tested across the installed base.
