Laowa has introduced the ACRIS 35mm f/2.8 1X Macro APO, a full-frame lens that reaches true 1:1 reproduction while retaining a 63.4-degree angle of view. The company positions it as the first autofocus 35mm full-frame lens with that magnification.
The optical design uses 13 elements in ten groups and an apochromatic correction scheme intended to suppress longitudinal and lateral colour fringing. Internal focusing keeps the barrel length fixed. The minimum focus distance is 180 mm and the minimum working distance is 48.6 mm.
Autofocus operates from 0.5 metres to infinity on Sony E, Nikon Z and Canon EF versions. Closer macro work uses manual adjustment with focus assistance. Canon RF and L-mount versions are manual focus only. That split favours general documentary acquisition at normal distances while preserving precise control for focus stacking and product detail.
The specification and $449 price are confirmed, but independent sharpness, breathing, distortion, autofocus-noise and weather-resistance tests are not yet available. The short working distance may also complicate lighting or live-subject work.
