A NewscastStudio industry analysis finds that live-production engineering is moving beyond the basic question of whether a signal can travel through IP or cloud infrastructure. SRT, NDI, JPEG XS, SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS have matured much of the transport layer, leaving orchestration and operational visibility as the harder boundaries.

Contributors describe a structural split. Transcoding, packaging, graphics, overlays and monitoring can scale as software, while camera shading, audio mixing, intercom, IFB and tally remain tied to latency, people or physical locations. That makes hybrid production a likely operating model rather than only a transition phase.

Scaling also creates more outputs to supervise. One event may feed television, streaming, FAST and social versions with different languages, graphics and advertising. Compute can create those services faster than an operator can verify them. Telemetry therefore has to show not only that video exists, but that the correct audio, branding and format reached each destination.

The article synthesizes named vendor perspectives rather than presenting a controlled study. It identifies consistent operational patterns, but does not provide cost benchmarks, failure statistics or a neutral dataset comparing cloud, on-premises and hybrid deployments.
