Haivision used IBC 2026 to demonstrate Makito ONE contribution equipment using JPEG XS and an AI-assisted configuration capability in the Hub 360 management platform. The company describes the JPEG XS path as visually lossless with sub-frame encode and decode latency.
JPEG XS is designed for production and contribution cases where lower bandwidth than uncompressed media is required without accepting a long-GOP delay. Hub 360 sits in the management layer and is intended to configure encoders, mobile transmitters and gateways from a shared interface. AI assistance could reduce repetitive setup across large device fleets.
The separation is important: AI does not alter the live essence in the described workflow, while JPEG XS does not solve device orchestration. Together they show how vendors are optimising both media transport and the operational steps around it.
These were trade-show demonstrations rather than a fully documented customer deployment. Haivision has not published measured end-to-end latency, JPEG XS bitrate and interoperability results, supported AI commands, approval controls or error rates. Shipping dates and licensing for every demonstrated capability are not completely specified.
