Zixi, Grass Valley, Uplynk and BroadView Software have published a white paper describing a modular IP distribution framework based on an operating deployment. The design divides the chain into four layers rather than assigning the entire workflow to one supplier.

Grass Valley provides cloud playout and master control, Zixi handles redundant IP delivery, BroadView Nexus supplies orchestration, and Uplynk serves streaming, FAST and affiliate endpoints. TAG monitoring and Zixi Zen Master are used to expose transport and service status across the path.

This separation matters as broadcasters replace C-band distribution. Individual layers can be expanded or exchanged while playout, transport and endpoint requirements evolve at different speeds. The model also creates clearer boundaries for monitoring, automation and supplier responsibility, provided those interfaces remain interoperable in practice.

The paper says the architecture has been validated in production, but the broadcaster is not identified and measured failover, capacity and operating-cost data are not published. The design is therefore useful as a reference pattern, not yet an independent benchmark for every affiliate network.
