Airbus Defence and Space has completed the first 32 new OneWeb low-Earth-orbit satellites for Eutelsat at its Toulouse facility. The spacecraft are being prepared for shipment ahead of an upcoming SpaceX launch.
They are the first completed units in a programme now covering 669 new OneWeb satellites. Eutelsat intends to replace spacecraft approaching end of life while maintaining service continuity and adding network capability for business, government and institutional customers.
For media operations, LEO capacity can support contribution, remote production connectivity and resilient site access where terrestrial paths are limited. Renewal reduces the risk that such workflows depend on an ageing first-generation constellation without a replenishment path.
Eutelsat has not announced the launch date, deployment sequence, in-orbit acceptance schedule or performance specifications for this batch. Completion on the production line therefore does not yet equal operational capacity, and service improvements cannot be measured until commissioning.
