Italian manufacturer Metamorphosis has released EXOCAGE, a fibre-reinforced 3D-printed camera-cage system for Sony FX3 and FX30 bodies and selected Panasonic Lumix S5II and S1II models.

The full system separates a camera-specific front and middle module from EXOCORE, a reusable rear electronics section. EXOCORE integrates a V-mount battery plate, D-Tap power splitter and optional Blackmagic Design Micro Converter HDMI to SDI 3G, with BNC connections presented at the rear.

Mounting options include NATO rails, cheese plates, a 15mm rod clamp and camera-specific handle or lens-adapter clearance. Analogue record controls are included, with additional custom buttons on Panasonic versions. Prices run from €199 for the mini cage to €499 for complete converter-equipped versions.

The modular concept could reduce replacement waste when changing camera bodies, but weight and physical dimensions are not published. The source also does not provide thermal, impact, connector-strain or long-term print-material tests, all of which matter before the rig is used in demanding field production.
