The 2026 Esports World Cup used more than 60 Sony cameras during seven weeks of competition involving over 2,000 players and 24 game titles. The deployment combined different Cinema Line bodies instead of assigning one camera model to every position.
Two BURANO cameras and two FX6 cameras supported premium and flexible acquisition roles. The production also used ten FX2 bodies and, at its busiest, about 50 FX3 and FX2 cameras for player, stage and auxiliary coverage. Sony ECM-778 microphones were included in the production package.
Esports coverage must repeatedly reconfigure around different games, stage layouts and numbers of competitors. Using related cameras across large and compact positions can simplify colour matching and operator familiarity, although the final workflow depends on how the production handled shading, conversion and synchronization.
The report does not disclose recording formats, frame rates, lens packages, transport, genlock, return video, camera-control topology or measured colour-matching time. Sony supplied the account, and no independent comparison with other camera systems is provided.
