ENENSYS is presenting an end-to-end 5G Broadcast platform that covers service management, core-network functions, transmission equipment and receiver middleware. The one-to-many model sends the same service to every compatible device in coverage instead of creating a separate unicast stream for each viewer.
The company says existing high-power terrestrial transmission sites can be reused. Proposed services include live television, video on demand, replay and catch-up functions, targeted advertising and public-warning distribution. Receiver middleware is needed to expose those broadcasts to applications on compatible devices.
The broadcast layer can preserve capacity when many people request the same event or emergency information, while mobile broadband continues to handle personalised and interactive traffic. The practical value depends on spectrum policy, handset support, service discovery and commercial agreements across broadcasters and mobile ecosystems.
