Blackbird says its elevate.io collaborative video editor will join Google’s Chromebook Perks programme, beginning with a UK test in October. The arrangement gives Chromebook owners discounted access to a platform designed to run entirely in a browser.
elevate.io keeps projects and media in a shared cloud workspace, supports simultaneous editing and time-stamped review comments, and performs export processing remotely. The product also includes 4K output, subtitles, transcription, voice isolation and other AI-assisted tools.
The technical significance is less the discount than the client model: editing, approval and asset access are separated from high-powered local hardware. That can make lightweight devices useful for review, education and distributed production while centralising project state.
The announcement does not publish proxy architecture, upload requirements, codec limits, colour-management support, export timing or service-level guarantees. The UK launch is a market test, and inclusion in a perks programme does not establish suitability for broadcast finishing or time-critical newsroom work.
