Disc Golf Network, the subscription service of the Disc Golf Pro Tour, worked with Big Blue Marble to replace a streaming platform that could not maintain consistent quality across devices and locations. The new system is built on AWS and supports live coverage at 60 frames per second.
A tournament day can run for eight to ten hours, so the distribution chain has to sustain quality far longer than a short match or studio programme. The same platform also creates video-on-demand quickly, allowing viewers to move from the live event to replay content without a separate overnight process.
The important design point is that contribution, live processing, distribution and VOD are treated as one service. Scaling the audience is useful only if the production output, frame rate, metadata and recordings remain aligned through the entire day and across device profiles.
The account is supplied by a participant in the project and does not publish end-to-end latency, redundancy topology, AWS service costs or outage history. Those missing details matter when comparing the design with a broadcast-grade service-level objective.
