NUGEN Audio has previewed DialogCheck 1.2, an update to its dialogue-intelligibility analysis tool. The release is intended to support the industry effort to standardise how speech clarity is measured and presented across broadcast, streaming and post-production.
Earlier DialogCheck 1.1 work expanded analysis to immersive formats up to 9.1.6 channels and added a session timeline offset for projects that do not start at zero. Version 1.2 continues that workflow while aligning the product with the evolving common terminology, scale and thresholds developed by participating audio manufacturers around Fraunhofer IDMT’s LEAP technology.
If implementations stay consistent, a programme could be monitored during production, adjusted in post and checked again during QC with comparable results from different vendors. That is operationally different from loudness compliance: intelligibility is perceptual and content-dependent, so a score should guide review rather than automatically prove that every listener will understand the dialogue.
The announcement does not state final availability, supported plug-in hosts, measured processing load or conformance results against the shared implementation agreement. Because the wider standardisation work is still evolving, facilities should preserve version and measurement metadata when comparing results over time.
