Maxon has added a built-in Model Context Protocol server to Cinema 4D 2026.4 for Windows and macOS. The connection officially supports Claude Desktop and ChatGPT Desktop and is disabled until the user explicitly enables it.

An assistant can call Cinema 4D’s own tools and API to organise imported objects, create material variations, prepare multipass renders and assist with camera tracking, UV work, rigging or animation. The result remains native scene data on the artist’s machine, so operators can inspect, refine and undo the changes.

Security controls include an adapter access token, tool-group permissions, local audit logs and a separate opt-in for network access. Python execution can be restricted, and each batch of assistant-driven actions appears in the application’s undo history. Those controls are important when automation can change a production scene rather than merely suggest text.

The release confirms the local control model and supported clients. It does not publish performance limits on large scenes, enterprise identity integration, a formal threat model, prompt-retention behaviour or validation across render-farm workflows. Other MCP clients may connect, but Maxon does not support them officially.
